Gangwon-do Province is located in eastern central part of the Korean peninsula. Large areas of the province are covered by dense forest, providing views abundant natural residential areas with fewer than with other provinces. Both the heavily wooded mountains far or gap-gap and small towns on the coast that is rich in natural splendor. With their natural condition, Gangwondo be an ideal place for the Championship Winter Asia in January of 1999. International Tourism Exposition (International Travel Exposition-ITE) is also held in this place of September 11 to October 30, 1999.

More than two million foreign and domestic tourists participate in these events. With the theme “Man, Nature, and Life in the Future,” ITE offers a series of performances and games in addition to a number of fascinating exhibitions and useful information for tourists.

The coastline in the east stretches along 390 kilometers (234 miles) from Hwajinpo and Busan, it has a heavy landscape and with a number of mountainous scenery, it is the most amazing natural in Korea. Skiing and other winter sports make this place a year-round resort destination.

To meet the needs of more than one million skiers per year, some resorts now equipped with snow-making machines, which can extend the season skiing from December until March. Other popular recreational activities in this area include pool in summer sports and mountain climbing in autumn.

Beaches this place is perhaps the most beautiful in Korea, that slope little by little toward the parts that are not in the sea with a light flow.
